Interruptions or Fluctuations in Weight Loss

What are your weight loss goals? (26 days or 43 days?)

Before I started hCG, I weighed 215 lbs at 5'6".  My ultimate goal was to return to the size I was when I got married, 14 years ago.  I weighed 135 and was a size 6-8.  I was healthy, felt great and was happy with the way I looked.  That meant I had a total of 80 lbs to lose.  That's where the planning started...A GOAL!  80 lbs meant that I would likely need three 43 day rounds of hCG.

There are 2 options for the length of a course on hCG.  Both can be repeated several times, with the appropriate breaks between rounds.  The first is 26 days, and is usually for anyone with less than 15 lbs to lose.  If you have very little abnormal fat to lose, 26 days is usually enough to achieve that.  This may also be an option for someone that needs to plan around travel for work or an upcoming event, or just wants the option of a shorter course of treatment.

The second and more common option is a 43 day course.  On the 43 day course, Dr. Simeons suggests skipping an injection one day a week, to avoid becoming immune to the affects of hCG.  You would continue the 500 calorie diet those days, without difficulty, since hCG stays in your system for 3 days.  I didn't skip a day until I had gone 10 days, just to make sure it was well into my system.

Injection vs Sublingual

There are 2 ways to get hCG into your system.  The first way is through daily injections. This seems to be a far more common method, and is what I did. The hCG is mixed with sterile water.  All the supplies you would need are provided in my Dosing Kits.  Injections are given once daily and should be at the same time of day.  It is done with a very small diabetic needle, that you will barely feel.  This was my biggest concern about the protocol.  I was unsure of how to give an injection and was worried about pain.  I have made a Mixing hCG video for directions on how to mix your hCG and how to give the injection.  It is both painless and very easy to do.

The second method is sublingual.  You can get sublingual by mixing prescription strength hCG into our premixed Sublingual formula.  We have mixed a liquid vitamin B12 and Colloidal Silver. You add the hCG.  Then twice daily (morning and night), you hold the hCG mixture under your tongue for 5-15 minutes, for the hCG to absorb into your system.  Not all of the hCG is absorbed, so it requires more hCG than with injections.  It doesn't last in your system as long as the injections, therefore you must do it 2 times a day.  I know that some have had great success with sublingual dosing, but since I did not do it this way, I have no first hand knowledge .  I have heard of some who started out with sublingual and changed to injections with better success.  But, if you choose this method, please see Sublingual hCG Dosing.

The next Sublingual Method is through our new Complete HCG Basics Drops.  These are drops that might be compared to a homeopathic remedy.  They contain a nonprescription strength hCG along with B12 and other amino acids.  The benefit to this is not having to order your hCG separately and wait 2-3 weeks for it to arrive.  Many people may feel more comfortable with this method of dosing hCG and in an effort to provide several options, we now have these for sale.  To purchase these drops, click here.

Women and hCG

It is important to consider a woman's menstrual cycle, when planning the best time to start the hCG Protocol.  The best time to start, is right after your menstrual cycle ends.  This way, you are well into the protocol before your next cycle.  If you start your cycle in the first 2 weeks of the protocol, it can be difficult with weight loss stalls and hunger or cravings. Remember it is recommended that you do not take injections during your cycle.  It is my personal suggestion to skip injections on just the first 2-3 days of your cycle and then resume injections on the 3rd or 4th day.  I had my cycle twice while on the hCG and low calorie diet.  One time I skipped injections and the other time, I did not.  I noticed no difference in how I felt either way, so it makes sense to follow the protocol as it was written, and skip injections.  When on the 43 day course, it is recommended that you skip your injection one day a week. (the same day each week).  If you skipped injections during your menstrual cycle, then I would take a full week of injections week before skipping the one day, and make that your new day to skip each week.  Please email me with any questions about this!  Also, oral contraceptives may used while on hCG with no problems.

What dose of hCG is right for me?

Your daily injection dose should fall between 125-200 IU's.  Dr. Simeons recommended 125 IU's.  My husband and I both started with 150 IU's.  After about a week, I was still feeling distracted by my hunger.  Not miserable, but I thought about it often.  I had heard of others that didn't feel hungry at all and sometimes forgot to eat!  So, I decided to change my dose to 175 IU's and within a few days, it was like night and day.  I wasn't hungry at all and I felt great. My husband changed his dose to 200 IU's with a better result.  However, I have heard of some people that actually lowered thier dose and got to that ideal dose for them.  It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with size, but it's a little bit of a guessing game to start with. Based on feedback and comments from on-line forums I have participated in, I recommend starting at 150- 175 IU's.  Once you decide on a dose, you can get more information on how much hCG to order at Order hCG.

If you use the diabetic syringes provided in my kit, the measurements are in "units"  One syringe equals 1/2 cc, or 50 units.  For your daily dose when mixing a 5,000 IU vial of hCG with a total of 5 ml Bacteriostatic water, use this chart:

125 IUs Daily = 12.5 units

150 IUs Daily = 15 units

175 IUs Daily = 17.5 units

200 IUs Daily = 20 units

First 2 injection days  - "Eating to capacity"

"Eating to Capacity" or "Loading", as it is commonly referred to, is extremely important!  There are a few reasons for this.  The hCG takes 3 days to be completely effective in your system.  So, you do not want to start the Low Calorie Diet until then, or you will risk your body going into starvation mode and burning normal fat tissue.  Also, many of us have been career dieters and Dr. Simeons talks about how our normal fat tissue is likely already depleted.  You have to re-stock those depleted supplies, so that when the hCG is working, you are only releasing your abnormal fat.  There is a direct correlation between those that eat as much fatty and high calorie foods as they can stomach, with those who did not feel hungry the first week of the 500 calorie diet.  Dr. Simeons suggests "milk chocolate, pastries with whipped cream and sugar, fried meats (particularly pork), eggs and bacon, mayonnaise, bread with thick butter and jam, etc."  I have observed complaints by those who did not take this step seriously and were "starving" the first few days.  You may gain a couple pounds during this step, but you will lose it within the first day or two of the low calorie diet.  The number of pounds gained during this step is almost worn like a badge of honor, in the hCG dieting community!

500 Calorie Diet

Follow the 500 calorie diet very carefully!  Weigh your meat raw and add up your calories.  It's not as much work as it sounds.  It will become second nature after about a week.  I have given some of my ideas for alternative food ideas in Preferred Products.  In addition to the dietary restrictions, you must stay away from cosmetics, shampoo and conditioners, creams and lotions etc, that contain oils.  You can absorb an amazing amount of these oils when they touch your skin.  You will want to stay away from these things during the 500 calorie diet part of the protocol.  I have given suggestions for alternative personal items in Preferred Products.

Here are the dietary guidelines set by Dr. Simeons for the 500 calorie diet:

Breakfast:

Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or stevia may be used. (I used Splenda with no problems)

Lunch:

100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed
raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed.

One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.

An apple or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.

Dinner: The same four choices as lunch.

The juice of one lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.

Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times.

In fact, the patient should drink about 2 liters of these fluids per day. Many patients are afraid to drink so much because they fear that this may make them retain more water. This is a wrong notion as the body is more inclined to store water when the intake falls below its normal requirements.

The fruit or the breadstick may be eaten between meals instead of with lunch or dinner, but not more than than four items listed for lunch and dinner may be eaten at one meal.

No medicines or cosmetics other than lipstick, eyebrow pencil and powder may he used without special permission

No variations other than those listed may be introduced. All things not listed are forbidden, and the patient is assured that nothing permissible has been left out. The 100 grams of meat must be scrupulously weighed raw after all visible fat has been removed. To do this accurately the patient must have a letter-scale, as kitchen scales are not sufficiently accurate and the butcher should certainly not be relied upon. Those not uncommon patients who feel that even so little food is too much for them, can omit anything they wish.

There is no objection to breaking up the two meals. For instance having a breadstick and an apple for breakfast or before going to bed, provided they are deducted from the regular meals. The whole daily ration of two breadsticks or two fruits may not be eaten at the same time, nor can any item saved from the previous day be added on the following day.

Final 72 hours of 500 Calorie Diet - Without hCG

On the last three days of the low calorie diet, you do not take injections. You do not want to eat normal levels of food, while hCG is still in your system, or you will gain weight very quickly.  So, you must continue the low calorie diet for the 72 hours it takes for the hCG to get completely out of your system.  This is usually no different than the other days on hCG. I didn't feel hungry at all during the 72 hours.  Here is a breakdown of the days:

26 Day Course

Day 1 and 2 - hCG injection in morning, then gorging all day, as much as possible

Day 3 thru 23 - continue hCG injections and eat 500 calorie diet

Day 24 thru 26 - No hCG, but continue 500 calorie diet

43 Day Course

Day 1 and 2 - hCG injection in morning, then gorging all day, as much as possible

Day 3 thru 40 - continue hCG injections and eat 500 calorie diet

Day 41 thru 43 - No hCG, but continue 500 calorie diet

On a 43 day course, you should skip one injection a week, while continuing the 500 calorie diet.  This is to help avoid becoming immune to the affects of hCG.  I recommend waiting until after a full week to 10 days of the low calorie diet before your first skip day.  Then, you should skip on the same day each week.

Interruptions or Fluctuations in Weight Loss

There are a few reasons you might see a stall or slow down in your weight loss progress.  You should read Pounds & Inches for more details on this, but a few reasons can be menstruation, cheats or dietary errors, a sunburn, water retention, using cosmetics or soaps containing oils, or reaching a former weight set point.  Unless these are cosmetics or dietary errors, these issues are likely to work them selves out in a few days.  However, you can do what is called an "apple day".  You would eat or drink nothing but 6 apples spaced out through the day.  It sounds difficult, but I did this once and the apples were surprisingly filling.  And I began to lose again the next morning!  Make sure you drink at least 2 liters of water daily throughout the entire protocol and it will help many of these issues!

Congratulations!

Now it's time to Stabilize and Maintain!
